Blight is back on Mac, and this time Apple has checked our paperwork. Mac releases paused after 1.4.9 while a Mac for us to build on was in the post; it arrived, it builds every release, it won't ship a Mac build that can't start, and it signs the lot. Meanwhile the whole game moved to .NET 11, which is mostly invisible unless you're on a very old Android phone (sorry; see below).

  • Blight is back on Mac, and it's properly signed now. This one is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple, so it opens like any other app. No right-click, no "unidentified developer", no wondering whether we're up to something. We weren't, but now Apple agrees.
  • Every Mac build now has to boot on a real Mac before it's allowed anywhere near you: the studio finally owns one, and it starts the Apple Silicon and Intel builds on every change.
  • Blight now needs Android 7.0 or newer. The game moved to .NET 11, and .NET 11 simply refuses to build for anything older than Android 7.0 - so phones on Android 5.0, 5.1 and 6.0 can no longer run it. If that's your phone, this is genuinely rotten news and we're sorry; the alternative was staying on an older runtime forever. Everything else moved with it: the desktop game, the server, and the bots all run on .NET 11 now, and you shouldn't be able to tell, which is the entire ambition.
  • Release pipeline: a practice run of the release no longer quietly updates the live game server along the way, which it had been doing. It never caused trouble, but only by luck.
